How Bonus Bets Work at Missouri Sportsbooks

Which Sportsbooks Are Not Live in Missouri Yet?
Bally Bet, BetRivers, Hard Rock Bet and Underdog are not on the MGC’s mobile license list as of October 4, 2026, so none can offer online sports betting in Missouri. ESPN BET is not missing; it was renamed theScore Bet, which is licensed. The reason is the license structure: the constitution allows only two direct licenses, and DraftKings and Circa Sports hold both, so any other sportsbook needs a license tied to a Missouri casino operator or a professional sports team. No new launch had been announced as of that date.
How to Start Betting Online in Missouri
Missouri online sports betting is open to anyone 21+ who is physically inside the state when they bet, resident or not. Getting started takes four steps at any licensed sportsbook: open an account, deposit, place a bet and, when you win, withdraw.
Step 1: Create Your Missouri Sportsbook Account
Missouri’s rules set what a sportsbook collects at sign-up, and it checks the details against a government-issued photo ID. You will be asked for:

- The last four digits of your Social Security number

How to Read Missouri Sports Betting Odds
American odds tell you who the favorite is and what a bet pays. A plus sign shows what a $100 bet wins; a minus sign shows what you must bet to win $100.
Example: at -150 you bet $150 to win $100; at +130 you bet $100 to win $130. Smaller stakes scale the same way, so $15 at -150 wins $10.

Moneyline, Spread and Totals
Three bet types appear on almost every game, and our guides to spread betting and over under betting cover two of them in depth:
- Moneyline: pick the winner, and the odds set the payout.
- Spread: the favorite must win by more than a set margin, while the underdog covers by losing by less or winning outright. For example, Chiefs -3.5 means the Chiefs must win by 4 or more.

Parlays and Same Game Parlays
A parlay puts several picks on one ticket, and every pick must win for it to pay. A same game parlay takes all its picks from one game, for example a Blues win plus over 5.5 goals.

Props and Futures
Props are bets on something inside a game, such as a quarterback’s passing yards or whether a player scores. Futures are bets on something decided later, such as which team wins the NL Central or the Stanley Cup.
Futures tie up your stake until the outcome is settled. Player props are allowed on pro games and on college games, except a college game in which a Missouri school is playing.
Live Betting
Live betting means betting after a game has started, with odds that move as it is played. Markets such as the next team to score or the final total keep updating, depending on the sport.
Because prices update constantly, odds can change or lock between tapping a pick and confirming it. Check the price on your bet slip before you confirm.

As Missouri’s only NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs draw bettors from both ends of the state, not just Kansas City. Home games are at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and the AFC West rivals are Denver, Las Vegas and the Los Angeles Chargers. The NFL regular season runs from September to early January.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting (MLB)
The St. Louis Cardinals play at Busch Stadium in the NL Central and have won 11 World Series titles. Baseball’s 162-game regular season runs from late March to late September, so there is a Cardinals game to bet on almost every day.

Example: a St. Louis Cardinals game has a total of 8.5 runs. The over wins if both teams score 9 or more between them; 8 or fewer and the under wins.
Kansas City Royals Betting (MLB)
The Kansas City Royals play at Kauffman Stadium in the AL Central, which gives Kansas City bettors a home team of their own through the summer. Their betting markets mirror the St. Louis Cardinals’: moneyline, run line, totals, props and futures. What sets them apart is the I-70 Series, when the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals meet.
Example: the Kansas City Royals are +130 underdogs. A $100 moneyline bet on them returns $130 in profit if they win, plus your $100 stake. If they lose, the stake is gone.
St. Louis Blues Betting (NHL)
The St. Louis Blues play at Enterprise Center in the NHL’s Central Division and won the Stanley Cup in 2019. Their regular season runs from early fall to April, filling the months when baseball is off, so they carry St. Louis betting through the winter.

St. Louis CITY SC joined MLS in 2023, plays in the Western Conference and calls Energizer Park home. It is the only MLS club based in Missouri.

Soccer is the one sport here where a draw is a result you can bet on. A three-way moneyline offers a CITY win, a draw or an away win. Example: you back CITY to win at home and the match ends 1-1. The bet loses, because the draw was a separate outcome.
Missouri Tigers Betting (NCAA)
The Missouri Tigers play in the SEC, with football at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium and basketball at Mizzou Arena, both in Columbia. Football runs from September to late November, before bowl season. Basketball runs from November to March.
Betting markets on Tigers games include moneyline, spread, totals and futures. What you can’t do is bet on an individual athlete in any college game a Missouri team plays in, so no player props on Mizzou games, home or away. In January 2026 the NCAA asked Missouri to ban all college player props, and the Missouri Gaming Commission said no.
Example: Mizzou is a 10.5-point football favorite. A spread bet on the Tigers wins if they win by 11 or more; a 10-point win loses.

Three more local teams draw Missouri bets, though not every sportsbook lists every game:

Is Sports Betting Legal in Missouri?
Yes. Legal sports betting in Missouri covers online and in-person bets under Article III, Section 39(g) of the Missouri Constitution, which voters added by approving Amendment 2 on November 5, 2024. Every legal bet meets three conditions, covered below and on our Missouri sports betting regulations page:
- You are 21 or older.
- The sportsbook is licensed by the Missouri Gaming Commission.
- You are physically inside Missouri when you bet.
Who Can Bet in Missouri: Age and Location Rules
Sports betting in Missouri is for adults: you must be 21 to open an account, place a bet or collect on one. You must also be inside Missouri when you bet, which sportsbooks check by geolocation, but you don’t need to live here.
A Kansas visitor can bet from a Kansas City, Missouri, hotel. A Missourian in Kansas City, Kansas, or across the river from St. Louis in Illinois, can’t use a Missouri account.
Self-excluded people can’t bet, and athletes, coaches, referees and team staff can’t bet on events they are involved in. You also can’t bet for someone else.
The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC)
The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) regulates every part of legal sports betting in the state and can fine a licensee up to $50,000 per violation. It:
- Licenses sportsbooks and the suppliers behind them
- Approves which events and bet types can be offered, through its Sports Wagering Catalog
- Collects the 10% sports wagering tax
- Runs the sports wagering self-exclusion list
- Takes complaints from bettors through its online Sports Wagering Complaint form
How Missouri Sports Betting Licenses Work
Missouri issues two kinds of sports betting license: retail, for betting in person, and mobile, for betting online. The constitution limits who can hold a mobile license:
- Each owner of a Missouri casino can hold one, however many casinos it owns.
- Each professional sports team in the state can hold one.
- Two more go directly to sportsbooks with no partner. The MGC chose DraftKings and Circa Sports for them on August 15, 2025.
Missouri has six casino owners and six pro teams, so the cap is 14 online licenses; eight are in use. Each license covers one sportsbook brand and is renewed every five years.
How to Check if a Missouri Sportsbook Is Licensed
To confirm that a Missouri sportsbook is licensed:
- Open the Missouri Gaming Commission’s list of approved sports wagering mobile licenses.
- Look for the sportsbook’s name. Two appear under company names: FanDuel as Betfair Interactive US LLC, and theScore Bet as Penn Sports Interactive, LLC.
- If it isn’t there, it isn’t licensed for legal sports betting online in Missouri.
A license gets you age and location checks, betting limits and self-exclusion tools, a regulator to complain to, and a rule that verified withdrawals are paid within five business days. Unlicensed and offshore sites offer none of that, and the MGC can’t help with disputes.

The MGC decides what goes in the catalog and can change it at any time. On December 22, 2025, for example, it rejected Super Bowl novelty bets such as the coin toss and the color of the Gatorade poured on the winning coach. Check the catalog itself if you are unsure about a market.
Are Prediction Markets Legal in Missouri?
The Missouri Attorney General’s position is that sports contracts on prediction markets are unlicensed sports wagering. On September 18, 2026, Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced cease-and-desist letters to six companies: Polymarket, Kalshi, Crypto.com, Novig, Underdog and Robinhood.
The release says any company offering sports wagering in Missouri must be licensed by the Missouri Gaming Commission, pay the required taxes and fees, and keep under-21s out. It adds that failure to comply will result in enforcement action.
This is the state’s position, not a court ruling, and it could change. For now, none of these platforms is on the MGC’s licensed list, so they come without the protections of a licensed Missouri sportsbook.
Daily Fantasy Sports in Missouri
Daily fantasy sports contests are legal in Missouri, but they are not sports betting. The constitution excludes them from sports wagering, and the Missouri Gaming Commission licenses fantasy operators separately.
Its list of fantasy operators has 13 names, including DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog and PrizePicks, which is listed as SidePrize, LLC. The minimum age for fantasy contests in Missouri is 18. Underdog’s fantasy contests are licensed, but its sports event contracts are among those the Attorney General ordered to stop.
Missouri Sports Betting Taxes
Two different taxes apply to Missouri sports betting, and they are easy to mix up. Sportsbooks pay the state 10% of their adjusted gross revenue; bettors pay income tax on winnings. The 10% is never taken from your winnings. This section describes the rules, not your situation, so check with a tax professional before you file.
How Missouri Taxes Sportsbooks
Missouri’s constitution sets the tax at 10% of adjusted gross revenue: what a sportsbook takes in, minus winnings paid and certain costs. Bonus bets and other promotional credits count as a cost only up to 25% of each month’s takings. Online sportsbooks’ taxable revenue was negative in December 2025 and January 2026, so those months produced little tax, and a negative month carries forward as a deduction.
After the Missouri Gaming Commission’s regulatory costs, the greater of 10% of the tax or $5 million a year goes to the state’s Compulsive Gaming Prevention Fund and the rest to education. From December 2025 to June 2026, that meant $5 million to the fund and $3,213,107.31 to education, plus $6,054,794.77 in license fees, bringing the fund’s total to $11,054,794.77.
Do You Pay Tax on Betting Winnings in Missouri?
Gambling winnings are fully taxable and must be reported on your federal return (IRS Topic 419). For payments made in 2026, a sportsbook issues Form W-2G when a win reaches $2,000 and is at least 300 times the stake; the threshold rises with inflation each year. It withholds 24% for federal tax when winnings minus the stake exceed $5,000 and the win is at least 300 times the stake.
Winnings count toward the income Missouri taxes. For the 2025 tax year, rates start at 2% and top out at 4.7% on taxable income over $9,191 (Missouri Department of Revenue). Keep records of every bet and payout.

You can deduct losses only if you itemize, and never beyond your winnings. From the 2026 tax year, the deduction is capped at 90% of losses, so a bettor who breaks even can still owe federal tax.
